LPI at JEIB (Barcelona)
The LPI was present at the first edition of the "Jornadas de Estudiantes en Ingeniería Biomédica" (JEIB), held in Barcelona from the 6th july to the 8th july 2016. This event was organized by the IEEE EMBS BCN Student Club.

The LPI offer a postdoc position to enroll in a grant just achieved; the grant focuses on MRI reconstruction from a twofold perspective, namely, both 3D dynamic cardiac image reconstruction as well as multislice and multiparametric diffusion in the body. Synergistic effect of the former on the latter will be sought. The candidate is expected to coordinate several tasks in both applications domains; therefore a background on image reconstruction, motion compensation and optimization is desirable.
In the second week of May, Santiago Sanz and Óscar Peña carried out a research stay in the Health Time facilities of Córdoba and Jaén, Spain. We had the chance to chat and learn from their researchers, doctors, and radiologist in order to extend our diffusion knowledge to the abdominal parts, from the characterization and diagnosis to the acquisition procedure with several MRI (3T, 1.5 and 1T).
In the first week of May, Alex Frangi and Carlos Alberola-López, together with Janette Wallace and Johanne Langford, have carried out an on-site visit of the Granada Conference Venue in which Miccai 2018 will take place. We have the chance to check that the premises are excellent for Miccai: appropriate rooms for tutorials and workshops, a nice main hall for oral sessions and sunny and ample spaces for poster sessions, industrial exhibitions and meals.
The LPI was present at the Annual Conference of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM 2016), held last May in Singapore. Two communications were presented at the conference, entitled "Local Analysis of Tract Density Imaging for the Detection of White Matter Alterations" and "Fractal Dimension as a Global Descriptor of the White Matter in Diffusion MRI Group Studies".
The LPI was present in 4th International Work-Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering (IWBBIO 2016), organised by the UGR, hold last April at Granada. Full contributions are published in Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics as part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) edited by Springer. A full communication entitled "An Automated Tensorial Classification Procedure for Left Ventricular Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy " was sent to the conference and consequently presented in oral session.
A new software for MRI reconstruction has been made available at http://www.lpi.tel.uva.es/~jroyval, in the software section.
This package implements with the GW-CS reconstruction method described in [1] with the posterior improvements of the Jacobian Weighted temporal Total Variation (JW-tTV) introduced in [2].
The LPI was present in 2016 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), hold last April at Prague. ISBI is a joint initiative of the IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS). Four communication were sent to the conference, all of the presented in oral sessions.
The paper entitled "Jacobian Weighted Temporal Total Variation for Motion Compensated Compressed Sensing Reconstruction of Dynamic MRI" has been accepted for publication at Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and it is currently in press.
